Code Red Roofers: Florida’s Emergency Response Specialists Since 2004

Our Beginning

Doug Roe started Code Red Roofers back in 2004 with three other guys and one beat-up dump trailer. That’s it. No fancy office, no fleet of trucks – just four people who knew how to fix roofs and weren’t afraid of hard work.

Doug grew up right here in Martin County. His dad was in construction, so Doug learned the building trade from childhood. But when he started Code Red, he focused entirely on roofing because that’s where Florida really gets hammered by weather.

The name “Code Red” came from Doug’s emergency response mindset. Down here in Florida, when storms hit, roofs fail fast. People need help immediately, not next week. Doug wanted a company that actually responded when folks called in emergencies.

Those early years were tough. Four guys working out of Stuart, trying to build a reputation in Martin County. But Doug’s approach was simple – answer the phone, show up when promised, fix problems right the first time. Word spread pretty quick.

Now it’s 2024, and we’ve got over 200 employees and 40+ trucks across South Florida. But Doug still runs the company the same way – respond fast, work hard, treat customers like family.

We’ve fixed over 12,000 roofs since 2004. Everything from emergency tarps during hurricanes to complete commercial flat roof replacements. Doug’s still involved in major jobs, especially when storms hit and people need help fast.

Where We Work

Code Red covers a big chunk of Florida from our two main offices. We know these areas inside and out – lived here, worked here, raised families here.

Main Service Areas:

  • Martin County: Stuart, Jensen Beach, Hobe Sound, Palm City – our home base
  • St. Lucie County: Port St. Lucie, Fort Pierce, Vero Beach
  • Palm Beach County: West Palm Beach, Lake Worth, Boynton Beach, Delray Beach, Boca Raton
  • Indian River County: Sebastian, Fellsmere
  • Central Florida: When big storms hit, we go where help’s needed

Why Two Offices: Stuart handles the Treasure Coast – that’s Martin and St. Lucie Counties mostly. Lake Worth covers Palm Beach County and points south. This setup gets us to customers faster during emergencies.

Doug knows exactly which neighborhoods flood during summer storms, where hurricane winds hit hardest, and how salt air affects roofs differently in each area. Twenty years of working the same territory teaches you things you can’t learn from books.

Commercial Flat Roofing

South Florida businesses count on us because roof failures cost serious money. One leak shuts down operations. Inventory gets ruined. Customers go elsewhere. We get that.

Flat Roof Systems We Install:

  • TPO: White membranes that reflect heat and slash cooling costs
  • EPDM: Black rubber that handles temperature swings and UV punishment
  • PVC: Chemical-resistant membranes perfect for restaurants and manufacturing
  • Modified Bitumen: Self-stick systems that work great in Florida humidity
  • Built-Up Roofing: Traditional tar and gravel for maximum durability

Commercial Buildings We Handle:

  • Shopping centers and office complexes
  • Warehouses and manufacturing facilities
  • Restaurants and hospitality properties
  • Medical buildings and urgent care centers
  • Schools and government buildings

Our Commercial Process: Every job gets a dedicated project manager who’s on-site daily. No subcontractors running unsupervised work. Our project managers know flat roofing inside and out.

We work around business schedules when possible. Done major roof replacements over long weekends so businesses didn’t lose operating days. Costs more to work weekends, but it’s cheaper than losing a week of sales.

Storm Response for Businesses: We keep emergency supplies ready all hurricane season. The minute winds die down, our commercial crews are checking on customers. Many business owners have Doug’s cell number for real emergencies.

Our commercial guy Bronson Allen runs business development. He’s got deep roofing knowledge and understands what business owners face when roofs fail. Bronson helps customers pick the right system for their specific needs and budget.

Houses and Regular Roofing

Florida homeowners deal with roofing challenges that don’t exist anywhere else. We get afternoon thunderstorms every day in summer. Hurricane season brings flying debris and sustained winds. That Florida sun just cooks everything.

What We Install:

  • Shingles rated for Florida wind zones
  • Metal roofing that survives hurricanes
  • Tile systems that last decades
  • Flat roofs for modern home designs

Our Installation Approach: We’re one of only 2% of contractors nationwide with GAF Master Elite certification. That gets us better materials, longer warranties, and access to products regular contractors can’t offer.

Every residential job gets a project manager too. We don’t just send crews and hope for the best. Project managers make sure work gets done right and customers know what’s happening every step.

Insurance Claims: We work with insurance companies all the time after storm damage. Most adjusters in South Florida know us and trust our damage assessments. We handle paperwork and make sure homeowners get fair settlements.

Emergency Response: Florida weather doesn’t follow business hours. Storms hit at midnight, trees fall during hurricanes, roofs fail when you’re sleeping. We respond 24/7 with emergency crews.

Florida Weather Reality

Twenty years in South Florida taught us how weather destroys roofs. We’ve been through every major hurricane that’s hit this area since 2004.

Daily Summer Storms: June through October, storms hit almost every afternoon. Heavy rain, strong winds, sometimes hail. These daily beatings add up over time. We seal everything tight and use materials designed for constant moisture.

Hurricane Preparation: We stock emergency materials before storms hit. Tarps, plywood, fasteners – everything needed for immediate protection. Our crews deploy as soon as it’s safe after storms pass.

Doug learned early that preparation beats reaction. When Hurricane Frances and Jeanne hit back-to-back in 2004, we were ready. When Irma came through in 2017, our crews were protecting customers within hours.

Heat and Humidity: Attics hit 140+ degrees in summer. That heat expands materials until they crack. We use ventilation systems that actually move air and materials rated for extreme heat.

Salt Air Problems: Coastal properties face extra challenges from salt air that eats metal components. We use marine-grade materials and special installation methods for waterfront homes and businesses.
